SnapDragon wins Ceed Women in Industry Award

Last week, the SnapDragon team was delighted to attend this Year’s Ceed Scotland awards. The Ceed (The Centre for Engineering, Education and Development) Awards celebrate the achievements of Scottish businesses across all sectors.

The awards’ categories ranged from Circular Economy to Marketing and Cyber Resilience, and this year many presenters and award recipients discussed the affects the COVID-19 pandemic, and related supply chain issues, had on business operations. Two new awards were created to acknowledge the huge efforts various Scottish businesses have made to support their teams and communities through these tough times. The categories were: Transformational change or Pivot through Covid-19, and Contribution to mitigate COVID-19 issues.

We were very pleased to be nominated for 3 awards; Women in Industry, Internationalisation and Young Person of the Year.

Our Head Dragon, Rachel Jones, accepted the award for Women in Industry, which recognises a significant contribution or initiative to develop women in technical workplaces. As we head towards International Women’s day on March 8th, it was a great honour to receive this acknowledgement. Diversity and inclusion have always been a top priority at SnapDragon. Over 60% of our team is female, and span many different nationalities, speaking 14 languages between us. Empowering, championing and developing our team is at the core of everything we do.

Rachel commented on the win:

“This is very much a team award for all of our Dragons. It’s the team who “I see this very much as a team award for all Dragons. We are a people business in tech, rather than a technology business with a team. We prioritise health and wellbeing, being kind, learning from each other, developing and nurturing talent, welcoming diversity and, of course, delivering outstanding results for our clients and customers, every single day. It’s fabulous to be recognised for this not-always-standard approach – I have to say we are all quite chuffed!”.

The SnapDragon Team with the Women in Industry Award

Additionally exciting was the fact that our very own Team Lead and Brand Protection Expert, Andrew O’Riordan, was a finalist in the Young Person of the Year award, to complement his inclusion in the Insider 35 under 35 list. Andrew has been at SnapDragon for 3 years, and worked his way to Team Lead, managing 8 brand protection specialists. Andrew works diligently to protect our clients from intellectual property infringements, and has contributed to the removal of over £100 million worth of fake goods online. He is an invaluable part of the team, and we are very proud of his achievements.

All in all, it has been a very successful week for us here at SnapDragon, and a welcome return to in-person award shows and conferences.
