International Design Day (IDD2025) takes place on April 27, and this year it’s theme is Outlandish Optimism. It’s a bold rejection of the “doom and gloom” narratives that stifle creativity, and reminds us that design is a tool for social equity, connection, and hope.
As brand protection experts, we’re proud to stand with the creators who refuse to give in to negativity.
About International Design Day
International Design Day was established by the International Council of Design (ICoD) to celebrate the power of design in shaping better lives and a better world. Each year, it highlights the role of designers as agents of positive change – championing equity, accessibility, and sustainable innovation through their work.
This year’s theme, Outlandish Optimism, invites designers to embrace imagination, courage, and creative disruption. It’s a call to design with kindness. To think about balance, fairness, and the flourishing of all people and the planet.
Design as a radical act of imagination
Design is an artform that’s rooted in optimism, and the belief that everyone’s quality of life can improve when we dare to reimagine things.
At SnapDragon, that message hits home because we work with so many brands and organisations – such as the Design and Artists Copyright Society (DACS) – who are trying to design a better world. They challenge harmful systems, rethink the status quo, and bring bold, meaningful ideas to life.
But, as brand protection experts, we also see how often that optimism is tested. Copycats, counterfeits, and bad actors exploit original work for a quick win. It’s disheartening, and it’s unfair.
Because when design professionals pour time, talent, and purpose into what they create, they shouldn’t have to fight just to keep it theirs. That’s why we do what we do – to stand up for bold creativity against those who try to exploit it.
"This International Design Day, DACS celebrates the vital role of designers in shaping the way we see, use, and understand the world around us. We’re proud to champion the rights of creatives whose work inspires, challenges, and endures."

What happens when bold ideas are left unprotected?
It’s hard to stay optimistic when every breakthrough feels vulnerable. Today’s designers face enormous pressure:
- To produce more, faster
- To compete in systems that reward visibility over values
- To protect their work from being copied, counterfeited, or exploited online.
Design professionals shouldn’t have to choose between being bold and being safe. Between pushing creative boundaries and defending their IP rights. But too often, that’s exactly the choice they’re forced to make – and it stifles the very innovation this world needs most.
At SnapDragon, we believe designers deserve better. And we’re here to make sure they get it.
Fiercely defending the design community
SnapDragon exists to safeguard design in the digital world. We track and remove copycats, counterfeits, and IP infringements across global online platforms so professional designers can keep building without fear.
Because optimism isn’t just an attitude.
It’s a strategy.
And with brand protection in place, it becomes a powerful one.
We don’t just talk about protecting innovation. We do it every day. We’ve helped bold, design-led brands like Ooni, Üutensil, and Bikinis Guadalupe Cid take back control from counterfeiters and copycats across the globe.
Real brand protection for designers
Ooni’s iconic pizza ovens were being ripped off online, threatening both their reputation and their revenue. We stepped in and removed over 1,500 infringements across major marketplaces.
Üutensil, known for its clever kitchen tools, faced a wave of fakes during peak holiday season. We helped eliminate 5,700 listings in just a few months.
And for sustainable swimwear brand Bikinis Guadalupe Cid, we wiped out every identified fake across platforms like Alibaba and Amazon, restoring visibility and protecting their brand story.
These aren’t just numbers. They’re proof that when designers are protected, they can keep building. Keep growing. And keep imagining something better. That’s the kind of optimism we’re proud to power.
SnapDragon stands with the hopeful
Bold design needs bold protection – and we’re proud to stand with ICoD in supporting the designers building a better tomorrow.
We want to help protect your Outlandish Optimism. Because your ideas deserve to be more than just seen: they deserve to be safe.
