"Preserving our client's image and combating deepfake content has been our absolute priority. We understand the impact it can have at every level, particularly the distress caused by pornographic material."
– Andrew O’Riordan, Head of Brand Protection, SnapDragon
In 2023, there were an estimated half a million deepfakes online. By the end of 2025, the UK government projects there could be eight million.
What’s at stake? Absolutely everything. Trust. Safety. Dignity. Behind every manipulated image is a real person’s face, and a real person’s life.
Yet legal protections still lag far behind the scale of the problem. And for celebrities, whose faces are globally recognisable and instantly weaponisable, the risks are astronomical.
That was exactly the case for one of our Hollywood A-list clients, whose image was manipulated into explicit deepfake pornography.
When the law can’t act fast enough, we do.
At the time, no legal mechanism could guarantee the removal of the deepfakes, or even stem their spread. So the client’s representatives came to SnapDragon for immediate, pragmatic help.
In response, we built a bespoke approach.
While our normal services didn’t cover deepfakes, we quickly tested and deployed a bespoke solution to detect illicit images — combined with rapid enforcement via Google Images.
Throughout the process, we worked with care, discretion, and a deep respect for the client’s privacy — documenting every action, handling sensitive data securely, and providing full transparency.
SnapDragon’s work on this case didn’t rely on a polished product. It relied on something deeper:
No one should have to fight deepfakes alone. Until the law catches up, SnapDragon stands with those under attack
